Let’s compare and contrast the book to (Covid) real life. What are some of the things that happened in the book that reminded you of your life right now? What are some of the things that you are super glad (or sad) are not happening IRL?

The people in the book were isolated as the air got worse they stayed in their homes. They tried to stock up on supplies and food before things got bad. My family tried to stock up on supplies in case someone in our household got COVID and we had to quarantine for 2 weeks. I’m really glad that we have plenty of supplies and food and electricity. I am really glad that we are not experiencing a loss of power especially as winter is coming up. The weather in the book sounded horrific – with hurricanes, tsunamis, earthquakes, and flooding and the sun being blocked out from the ash due to volcano eruptions.
